NACS charging cables, also known as the North American Charging Standard (NCS), are leading the charge revolution. Originally developed by Tesla, they will be available to other manufacturers in 2022. With an integrated, ultra-thin package design, they combine AC and DC power, are half the size of traditional Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors, yet offer higher power capacity, with a maximum DC charging power of 1000kW.
NACS charging cables offer superior performance. For AC charging, they support single-phase AC charging up to 80 amps, making them suitable for a variety of applications, including home and commercial use. During DC fast charging, they can quickly recharge vehicles, with some models achieving an 80% charge in just 30 minutes. They also offer superior safety features, with multiple protection mechanisms automatically detecting battery status and charging conditions to prevent overheating and overcharging. Select models achieve an IP55 rating, offering dust and water resistance, making them safe for indoor and outdoor use. Furthermore, its simple interface design, lack of moving parts, and high durability are key features. The continued adoption of NACS charging cables by numerous automakers has broadened their compatibility, providing electric vehicle users with a convenient, efficient, and reliable charging experience.
